I build and own real estate in Portland, Oregon. My career has been in finance and accounting, and I have an MBA from Arizona State University. Today I operate 8 LLCs, and I have opened and closed many more along the way. For years I kept their books in QuickBooks - but the prices just got out of hand!

It worked the way a shared spreadsheet works. Every company was its own subscription. Mortgage payments had to be split by hand into principal, interest and escrow every month. At tax time I exported everything and rebuilt it for my CPA.

I looked for something built for an owner like me: several companies, buildings in most of them, one person doing the books at night. The products I found were either general bookkeeping that treats each company as a separate customer, or property-management systems built for firms with staff.

So I built Glysten Books. A few things it does differently:

• Every LLC under one login. Each company keeps its own complete books. Nothing posts into two companies at once.
• Nothing posts until you say yes. The bank feed sorts and suggests. You approve.
• It reads statements. A bank or card statement PDF reconciles the account and shows what your books are missing; a mortgage statement posts the payment already split, for the servicers it reads.
• Your data is yours. Export each company's books, any time.
